Artists can be divided into two groups: those who think that techstep is neurofunk`s twin brother and those who didn`t agree with that at all. 

The relation of the genre to techno music is pretty much blurred even if techstep is saturated with technoid motives. 

They, actually, don`t have lots in common, but they both use technics of creating high energetic music patterns from abstract synth noises. Techstep music almost never uses unprocessed instruments. But it`s important to remember that in spite of the influence of techno techstep borrowed its rhythmic and bass structure from drum and bass.
