Moombahton

Moombahton is a genre of electronic music, subgenre of house music. The sound is typified by a slow tempo about 108 BPM and steady rhythms with Brazilian pattern. The style emerged as the result of DJ Dave Nada`s mistake at his cousin`s school party when he played the remix by Afrojack on the track by Silvio Ecomo and Chuckie «Moombah» he accidentally touched a pitch fader. Nada coined the neologism «Moombahton» that consists of two words «Moombah» and the end of the word «Reggaeton».

Birth: 2009 Bloom: 2010

Firstly the style was known as a local phenomenon, but with the help of drum`n`bass DJs it became a trend in the blogosphere. However, musicians and music critics don`t take moombahton music seriously. It`s said to be exotic fun music from Latin America like Baile funk or techno brega. Moombahton is quite monotonous and almost unable to evolve even during a long period of time.
