Dance Pop

Dance pop is a style of electronic dance music and a subgenre of pop music, which evolved after disco epoch, in the 1980s, and combined dancing rhythms with pop, house styles and song form of contemporary rhythms and blues. The style emerged in the mid-80s and became the reflection of musicians` trying to express potential of pop music with the usage of new electronic instruments.

Compositions like «Love In The First Degree» by the band Bananarama, Kylie Minogue`s «I Should Be So Lucky» and Gina T`s «One of Us» are the best examples of dance pop music. The period from 1984 till 1994 is considered as the dance pop epoch.

The most famous dance pop artists: Bad Boys Blue, Bananarama, Britney Spears, Ke$ha, Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, and many others.

Nowadays the term is used rarely because of the wide range of contemporary pop music. Speaking of pop music, the word «pop» will be quite enough, but if we mention dance music, we should use the term «club house» because it defines club music adapted for radio broadcasting.
