The Right Now - Call Girl (EP)

Deep & Disco is releasing Part 2 of The Right Now's "Call Girl" remixes on vinyl this coming Monday, Januarry 28th. Get Part 1 here.

Deep & Disco Recordings present Chicago-based band The Right Now with "Call Girl," an raucous slice of live party disco with that crossover potential explored by bands like Phenomenal Handclap Band and the more recent, Gramme. Hot Toddy's rework of "Call Girl" is the EP's money shot. A sing-a-long, hands in the air anthem for cool kids, club freaks and indie geeks everywhere. Massive choruses, infectious guitar lines and totally seductive vocals. Dancefloor magic cemented in under eight minutes. The original took me totally by surprise; I didn't expect an almost traditional 70s soul number, but the original isn't far off! Proper horns, proper strings, proper everything! And with a killer arrangement that any soul boy worth his credentials would die for. Infact, if someone stuck an old centre label on this daddy and said it was an unknown gem from '78 we'd probably sell five times as many copies! This is amazing! On the flip we get some modern renditions. The Dicky Trisco remix is smooth deep house, high fidelity and primed for warming up the dancefloor. JKriv goes on full-throttle NY house tip - complete with rhythmic vocal snippets, M1 organs, a stonking piano breakdown and a swinging house beat. BUY THIS RECORD NOW BEFORE IT GOES. There, I've said it. - (Matt, Picadilly Records)

Purchase Part 2 on Juno.
