Futurebound
From the very outset of dance culture, and right up to the present day, Brendan Collins, aka DJ / Producer Futurebound, has steadily developed an almost unsurpassable reputation for tearing up dancefloors on a worldwide scale.
Whether he’s destroying venues such as Fabric (London), Womb (Tokyo), or in the studio, the end result is guaranteed to be special.
With his productions being released on imprints such as Breakbeat Kaos, Infrared, Timeless, Moving Shadow, Skanna, Metro and Frequency and receiving heavy support over the years from the scenes hierarchy, the time seemed right for Futurebound to expand his repertoire once again, by infusing his reputation on an entire imprint.
Enter… VIPER RECORDINGS
2003 saw the birth of Viper Recordings, which has now become one of the scene’s most high profile labels and one which boasts some the most exciting and groundbreaking artists on the Globe.
Since kicking proceedings off with Futurebound’s monster 12” ‘Blind cobblers thumb’ & ‘Pied Piper’, Futurebound went onto draw in more blinding releases by the likes of J-Majik & Wickaman, Brookes Brothers, Baron, State of Mind, Moving Fusion and Futurebound himself.
2007 saw Viper release its first album, as Futurebound & Matrix released their Monsterous ‘Universal Truth’ album, which was voted dance album of the year in numerous territories around the world and featured many anthems from the duo, such as ‘American Beauty’, ‘Skyscraper’ and ‘Coast to Coast’ to name but a few.
Moving into 2008 and Futurebound had barely let the new years dust settle before unleashing the blistering Headrooom EP, as well as
linking up with the Brookes Brothers in the studio to produce the massive ‘Dawn Treader’ which was released on Breakbeat Kaos.
As well as being hard at it in the studio again and dj’ing worldwide spreading the Viper sound his & Matrix’s new 12” ‘Womb’ backed with the Nu:Tone & Logisitics remix of ‘Family’ dropped in March and became a firm favourite throughout the D&B world.
The success of Futurebound's productions with partner Matrix led to many of the biggest labels and artists in the industry to request high profile remixes from the duo, in which Futurebound duly obliged, turning tracks by the likes of Moby, Sasha, Lazee, Snap! & Ian Carey amongst others into DnB killers.
As well as this the duo managed to squeeze another banging release into their ridiculously busy schedule, dropping the dancefloor smasher 'Shanghai Surprise', backed with the uplifting vocal vibes of 'Reflection'.
And to cap the year off perfectly Futurebound pieced together one of the biggest albums of 2009 ‘Acts of Mad Men’ on his seminal Viper Recordings label.
‘Acts of Mad Men’ featured many of the scenes high profile players such as Ed Rush & Optical, Brookes Brothers, Nero alongside the whole Viper family Camo & Krooked, ShockOne, Metrik, DC Breaks, Furlonge and Matrix & Futurebound and as well as being championed by the DnB hierarchy was also named Radio 1’s album of the week.
As we enter 2010 Matrix & Futurebound have begun work on their eagerly anticipated second studio album, scheduled for release on the back end of 2010. Other highlights to look out before though is more amazing music from Viper including the new Headroom E.P from Futurebound and the kru, as well as Futurebound’s huge remix of Sasha’s trance anthem ‘Xpander’ as well as the new DnB Summer Slammers album from Viper.
