Dr. Firedanger
The history of the music creativity and first release begins back in 1994, when, inspired by the work of the group 2 Unlimited, it was decided to create their own electronic music. In 1995, the author of the project entered Tomsk State University and got the opportunity to use computer equipment such as IBM PC. In addition, around the same time, Internet access appeared at the university and the author of the project gained access to information from foreign music-related sites. At the same time, we managed to order from abroad the just released Creative SB 32 sound card, based on the SB32 AWE architecture. By purchasing additional RAM for the sound card, it became possible to use samples and wave synthesis along with MIDI sequencers. Unfortunately, due to the huge teaching load at the university, it was not possible to fruitfully engage in musical creativity. Although sketches of future tracks have already been made. Moreover, prototypes of projects for printing were made to publish the material on CDs. It is these materials that have survived to this day and were used to create the cover for this 2024 CD release. Then the author of the project entered graduate school and began work on a dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Sciences. In 2003, graduate school was completed, although the dissertation was defended later, in 2007.
But completing graduate school allowed me to get more involved in musical creativity. In 2004, the first tracks of the project appeared on the realmusic.ru portal. These were remixes of songs by the group Kraski and the group Badgirls. And also a couple of test tracks in the Techno style from samples from the second half of the 1990s. In 2006, the Skazki group approached the author of the project through the website with a request to make an electronic remix of one of their songs. Later, a club remix of one of the songs was also posted on the realmusic website. One of the techno tracks was used with the permission of the author in the dance program of one of the groups. Subsequently, the track was reworked and is currently the title track on the magnetic album (called Different Ways).
Unfortunately, since 2008, the author was completely immersed in preparing his doctoral dissertation and musical creativity was sporadic. In 2012, the author successfully defended his doctoral dissertation (but due to a coincidence of unfavorable circumstances, the dissertation was not approved - in the literal sense of the word - the machinations of enemies, sometimes this happens). But in 2013, the author registered on the portal for DJs promodj.com. Here a music competition from the Roland company was announced and the author created a track for this competition. It has never been officially published anywhere. And for the first time presented on a real magnetic album as the final track of Motion.
As already mentioned, the author decided to engage in musical creativity after the appearance of techno masterpieces from the group 2 Unlimited. And naturally, there is a track on the album called Gold Metall, which represents a sort of Siberian response to the song No Limits! groups 2 Unlimited.
Only in 2020, a contract was signed with the digital distributor Multiza and the music label Professor Baranovskiy EMedia was created under the umbrella of this company. In the same year, the mini-album (EP - Extended Play) of the Dr. project was finally released. Firedanger called Old School. The present 2024 magnetic album is an expanded re-release of that 2020 digital release. It took 30 years for the album to finally be released on the traditional music medium of magnetic tape. The journey is 30 years long from the preparation of future tracks to the official release on cassette. Although the digital release took place already in 2020, and the re-release came out in 2024, this is essentially a real blast from the past - Siberian music of the second half of the 1990s, which appeared to the world only three decades later. Don't be surprised that there are retro samples, beats from the 1990s, and aggressive but not complex sound effects. This is truly 1990s music. Like aged wine from elite cellars.
I must say that the digital release received maximum response in the USA and Great Britain and only then, in Russia.
