Tshepo Ruben Piet, widely known as Beatwoofer, is a self-made artist and visionary whose journey embodies the transformative power of music and the resilience of the human spirit. Born in 1988 in a remote village and later moving to Vryburg, his love for the arts was ignited through dance. Forming Pantsula dance groups with his peers, he discovered the discipline and creative energy required to transform raw talent into refined artistry.
His early exposure to rehearsals and performances laid the foundation for a lifelong pursuit of creative excellence. Joining a theatre group taught him the value of discipline and versatility, sparking a passion for exploring multiple art forms. This zeal eventually led him to music, where he began experimenting with Kwaito and Rap, forming the duo Da-Pimpz with a friend. Their dynamic energy evolved into Legae Entertainment, an 11-member collective showcasing Beatwoofer’s ability to lead, organize, and inspire.
In high school, his artistic aspirations aligned with his academic environment, where he utilized school premises for rehearsals and found mentorship from a passionate teacher. Under this guidance, Beatwoofer sharpened his skills, learning the intricacies of music composition and performance. Afternoons filled with rehearsals, competitions, and constructive critiques gave him a deep understanding of sound, style, and the creative process. His musical identity emerged as a fusion of Jazz, Afro-Pop, Kwaito, Ragga, and Rap—creating a distinctive sound that resonates with diverse audiences.
By the age of 13, Beatwoofer was no stranger to the stage, performing in front of massive crowds and sharing the spotlight with South African legends like HHP, Morafe, and Thebe. Local promoters adopted him, providing opportunities to build a loyal fan base while exposing him to the vibrant South African music scene. These experiences taught him how to connect with audiences, channel energy, and own the stage.
As his journey progressed, his focus shifted to production. A self-taught producer, Beatwoofer collaborated with local and regional producers to refine his craft. He not only created music for himself but also became a mentor, producing demos for aspiring artists in his neighborhood and helping them realize their potential. His commitment to nurturing talent extended to founding Visual and Audio Production, inspired by international standards, to groom local acts and foster creativity in underserved communities.
Beyond music, Beatwoofer served for eight years as part of an NGO, taking on roles ranging from secretary and treasurer to DJ and producer. His dedication empowered the organization to pioneer musical movements in the neighborhood, offering moral support and production advisories. His voluntary efforts reflected his belief that music is more than entertainment—it’s a tool for empowerment and change.
As the conceptualizer of Teez Nyc Production Pty Ltd, an independent music company, Beatwoofer aims to capitalize on the growing global digital market. His innovative and radio-friendly sound, combined with a business-oriented mindset, positions him as a leader in South Africa’s entertainment industry.
