50 years ago today (August 6, 1962) Jamaica was granted its independence from the UK. The island slowly gained increasing independence from the United Kingdom and in 1958, it became a province in the Federation of the West Indies, a federation among the British West Indies. Jamaica attained full independence by leaving the federation five decades ago on this very day. The small island is set for massive celebrations within the free nation, as well as around the world.
To celebrate 50 years of Jamaican independence, The Heatwave’s quickfire insanity-inducing DJ style is applied to half a century's worth of classic tracks. 50 years of Jamaican sounds hyping UK ravers.
