Electronic Music Event to Feature World-Class Artists and DJs! IncludingDirty Vegas, Classixx, RAC & Flight Facilities
SOUNDSYSTEM will feature world class EDM artists including Dirty Vegas, Classixx, RAC, and Flight Facilities, in addition to special guest DJ’s from Austin as well as guest DJ’s from EDM program HYPERSONIC RADIO on 101X. Not only will SOUNDSYSTEM have some of the best EDM artists from around the world, but the event will also feature a sound and light sensory explosion conceived by the best designers in the space, with EDM credits including Daft Punk, Deadmau5, and Kaskade, among others.
SOUNDSYSTEM is slated to be the predominant Halloween event geared to EDM fans, showcasing some of the world’s top DJ’s and Artists, combined with an extremely elaborate production that will completely transform the space,” stated Steve Levine, Partner and Head of ICM Partners Concerts Department.
“We wanted to bring a truly innovative sensory and sound experience to Austin, making SOUNDSYSTEM the first of its kind for the city,” added ICM Partners agent Jon Pleeter, who created the concept for SOUNDSYSTEM.
Dirty Vegas Dirty Vegas is a Grammy Award-winning British house music trio made up of Ben Harris, Paul Harris, and Steve Smith. The group formed in 2001, then broke up in 2005, and reformed in 2008 to record new material. The keynote of their four year run was the track ‘As Days Go By’, which went top 20 in the UK, garnering Dirty Vegas international levels of acclaim. In April 2011, Dirty Vegas released ELECTRIC LOVE, and fans of electronic music around the world were exposed to the slick new stylings of a Dirty Vegas sound that continued to push the limits of electro-pop, balancing house beats with guitar-led melodies that blend influences from Daft Punk to British 80’s new wave.
Classixx Classixx is an American production and DJ duo, based in Los Angeles, composed of Michael David and Tyler Blake. They were previously known as Young Americans. The name Classixx came from their liking of classic compilations of different music. The DJ duo is influenced by a plethora of music, ranging from old school R&B to Paul Simon and Kreftwerk. Classixx began to define a new sound for the Los Angeles EDM scene. A change from the banger-driven electro that had been dominating dance floors, their smooth blend of disco, new wave, funk, house and indie rock caught the ears of music aficionados, fans and artists alike. Recent remixes for groundbreaking and diverse artists include Phoenix, Mayer Hawthorne, Holy Ghost, Ladyhawke, Fischerspooner, Grovve Armada, Yacht, Beni, Drop The Lime, and Major Lazer.
RAC The Remix Artist Collective (RAC) was created in January 2007 by Andre’ Allen Anjos (Portugal/Portland OR). Later, Anjos recruited Aaron Jasinksi, Chris Angelovski aka “Crookram” (The Netherlands), and Andrew Maury (NYC). As of late 2010, Karl Kling has most recently joined RAC, primarily joining Andre’ onstage at RAC DJ shows. RAC’s first release was “Sleeping Lessons (RAC Mix)” for The Shins, earning the remix a spot as a B-side on the single release for “Australia”. The mix, along with several other projects garnered interest among bands like Tokyo Police Club, Bloc Party, and Ra Ra Riot. Since the end of 2007, RAC has been building an empire of indie remix favorites and a quickly growing word of mouth following. Recently, RAC has landed remixes with bands such as Kings of Leon, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Edward Sharpe, Hockey, Surfer Blood, Delorean, and Washed Out.
Flight Facilities The Australian duo’s first single, ‘Crave You’, featuring Giselle, has already netted over 5 million plays on YouTube. It has also found its way into several television shows and earning the ears of tastemakers from around the globe. In 2011, Flight Facilities, continued to build their international fan base with the 70’s disco throw-back ‘Foreign Language’ featuring Jess, once again finding Flight Facilities on Triple J’s Hottest 100. Having most recently received a nomination for ‘Best Music Video’ at the Vimeo Festival and Awards, ‘Foreign Language’ led Flight Facilities to play sold out shows and festivals all across the U.S., Europe, South America, and Japan. Flight Facilities have also gone on to produce official remixes for Cut Copy, Holy Ghost and Foals.
