This year's Festive Sequence contains four exclusive tracks to drink down like a dark, strong porter. Two of these are timely holiday bonbons, but Brilliantine have also included another two to remind you that you're going to need something to keep you going for the rest of the year.
It also serves as a fitting cap to a 2012 full of acceleration and refinement for Brilliantine, and a quick, sharp breath as we prepare to dive headlong into a much different sort of year in 2013. You might not see it coming.
Pelifics - Something Special Long heard mentioned in low voices around spiked punchbowls and authentic 1985 après-ski chalets fully decked out in large-bulb coloured lights, Pelifics' Christmas song "Something Special" is finally here in completed, mastered form. Witness the beginning of a new tradition - where X-mas becomes a wistful pop dream without a filter. Suitable for family gatherings, even. We've got you covered! In a just world, this is the track that ALWAYS follows "Wonderful Christmastime" on the radio. http://www.facebook.com/Pelifics
A Digital Needle - Deck Salsoul's Halls Your new best friends are Toronto's A Digital Needle, purveyors of an encyclopedic catalog of honest-to-goodness hot shit disco edits. Here, they drop a bit of their magic boogie snow on The Salsoul Orchestra in the form of an export directly from their brains - down the pipe to the best Christmas party you'll ever have. http://www.facebook.com/adigitalneedle
Montauk - Late Marriage (Kid Who Remix) Since we released their EP 'The Newsroom' to fawning acclaim last year, Montauk have been busier than you. From producing the fantastic debut album for FAYE (and touring as her live band!) to spawning the delirious HNNY, it's been big times for cool Swedish bros, so we wanted to celebrate them by releasing this hypnotic, propulsive remix of 'Newsroom' track "Late Marriage" from London's Kid Who. Keep watch for more Montauk in the new year, not that I need to tell you. I think they're about to be even busier in 2013. http://www.facebook.com/ilovemontauk http://www.facebook.com/djkidwho
Mirabel - Pilcoco (Mirabel Plateau Mix) This is the debut from Toronto's Mirabel, a sidelong-glance of an evolution from the dormant, memorably named What Kind of Breeze Do You Blow? and an outlet for the fitful creative energies of one of Brilliantine's founders. This track is said to reflect an aerial satellite image of an industrial park cul-de-sac through the prism of an Instagrammed boat ride. It will probably mean something else for you. It appears here in a certain form, the "Plateau Mix" - the original mix will be appearing on the debut Mirabel EP, set (hopefully) for release on Brilliantine this coming summer.
