RYC Podcast 064 | Takaaki Itoh

Techno hit Japan hard in the early 1990s. Surprised, Takaaki Itoh was quickly impressed and intrigued with this new sound. The unique style of beats revealed the gateway to a new world of underground music in Japan - something he had never heard before. Surprise slowly gave way to addiction when Takaaki Itoh was exposed to the sounds of such artists and labels as Underground Resistance, Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Hardfloor, Sven Väth, Harthouse, Warp and Rising High. This was his sound, and deciding he just couldn't get enough of it, in 1994 Takaaki began to organize his own techno parties in his home of northern Japan. By providing a fantastic lineup, his parties quickly became a success.

In 1996, having decided that it was time to start making his own tracks, Takaaki Itoh emerged to purchase the vital instruments to begin production. After sending out three finished projects to various labels, Electracom UK was fortunate enough to put Takaaki?s first material out. This moment was something he will never forget, as he was finally able to hear his own music on vinyl. Several releases followed with Electracom as his tracks began to appear in magazine DJ charts in well known DJs from around the world. In 2000, Takaaki Itoh made his European debut in Slovakia. People recognized that he had his own style. His Japanese style of techno was pure, unique and underground - nothing that had been heard before in Europe. His reputation and popularity quickly spread all over the continent. He was becoming recognized as Japan's most underground and respected techno DJ.

As of 2001 he was getting offers to perform at large clubs and festivals all over Europe, including Cosmic Trip and Svojsice in the Czech Republic, The Darkside in England, MTW in Germany, Awakenings and Reactor in Holland, Mayday and Sziget in Hungary, La Real and Code in Spain, Boomerang in Slovakia, Projekt in Belgium, as well as events in Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, Portugal, Serbia. Slovenia.. Promoters wanting him, party people loving him, Takaaki Itoh took the next step and started his own label Wols. Passion led to success and Takaaki became recognized as the top of the next generation of techno music.

By 2005 Takaaki Itoh has released over 50 original productions on many different european labels like Sheep, Tsunami, Warm Up, Theory, MB Selektions, Integrale Muzique, etc. He’s also developed a reputation for remixing globally established techno artists such as Gennaro Le Fosse, Oscar Mulero, Christian Wünsch and more to come. His demand is rapidly growing beyond his Asian and European roots, to places like South America, Australia, the US and Canada.

Damon Wild (PL) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 59 Pt. 2

Bio:
Damon Wild’s musical career started off as a DJ playing a range of musical styles from Kraftwerk / Cabaret Voltaire / New Order to early acid house on his home town radio WTUL in New Orleans. It was in 1990 when he moved to NYC to become a key player in the underground techno scene. While working at local record stores, Sonic Groove & Vinylmania, Damon released his first EP “Unleash the Groove” on the legendary Strictly Rhythm stamp. After several releases on various labels, Damon built his name as a producer of hard, dark acid and synth-fuelled techno stompers. As Experimental (EX) was being set up as his first record label in 1992, Damon hit it big with the rave anthem “Rave Generator” under the group name Toxic Two. The tune reached the top ten in the UK charts and was his biggest commercial success.
Even though Experimental records were relatively short lived, it was crucial in showcasing the talents of artists like Freddie Fresh, Tim Taylor and Woody McBride. It was then that Damon set up his second label, Synewave, and he still continues to run it and record for it successfully. On Synewave, Damon released some of his biggest underground tunes, such as “Bang the Acid” and “Afghan Acid”, both recorded with UK’s Tim Taylor. At the same time he was signing other producers to the label: Woody McBride, Freddy Fresh, Mark Bell (LFO), Joey Beltram, Heiko Laux, Steve Stoll, to name a few.
In 1988, Damon released his first full length album “New Electronica” under the alias Morph (produced with Dennis Ferrer). Damon was also heavily producing solid minimal productions such as “Avion” and his Subtractive Synthesis series.
After more than 15 years dj’ing and producing in the USA, Damon decided to move to Europe in 2001, where he released his second full album “Color Theory” for the Belgian based Music Man stamp. With some EP’s in between, 2004 witnessed his third full album “Downtown Worlds” on the German Kanzleramt stamp. With releases on all these labels (Code Red, Strictly Rhythm, Buzz, Reload, Music Man, Kanzleramt, Synewave, ?!) Damon Wild keeps crossing the globe for new inspiration.
Damon Wild is well known for his experienced dj style ranging from underground acid, classic techno, pumping minimal to the latest in new electronic sounds from around the globe. His top priority is to balance between his likings and that of the crowd to create a special techno experience.

isolatedmix 43 - Need a Name

It’s pretty hard to stand out from the crowd nowadays. I’m seeing less and less focus on ‘big albums’ or month-long hyped releases, and more attention being paid to a constant stream of quality – artists engaging their fans, rewarding them for their ongoing compassion and dedication. Artists that are embracing this new type of free distribution see regular Soundcloud uploads, free EP’s on Bandcamp, public discussions on equipment and techniques, and productions in partner with similar artists from the other side of the world.

One artist that has embraced this approach is Dario Lupo. He makes no secret of the fact he is on a parallel journey with his listeners; encouraging feedback, and consistently getting involved with likeminded artists through remixes and compilation submissions. And it’s because of this approach that Need a Name’s “nostalgic ambient music, featuring larger-than-space reverbs” has hit a note with many of us over the past few years. He’s the epitome of what many of the artists featured on ASIP strive for – a community of listeners engaged on his every note, his every upload.

Dario’s 2013 track ‘Road to Berlin‘ was one of my favourites to emerge last year – and one of only a few which were a free download on my ‘Reflection on 2013‘ mix. More recently, he’s remixing the similarly talented ‘Umber’, taking an instrumental-ambient style into other realms. And earlier this week, another free download that would give the likes of Kiyoko a ride for their money, titled ‘Everything is moving, but not the sky‘.

Dario’s productions are reflective and packed full of lush, sunny memories. This style, combined with his open approach to music production are what make him so appealing to many of us sharing the space – and it’s clearly echoed through his isolatedmix. “A collection of new discoveries mixed together with artists who changed my life in past and are changing it right now”; Dario’s mix pays homage to his blissful production style and his many influences over the past few years. With Umber, Keith Kenniff, Brambles and Hammock on board, this is a journey which will undoubtedly make you sit back and reflect on the better things in life.

Deep Space Helsinki - 4th March 2014

После веселых каникул, хорошего отдыха, моря и солнца я конечно возвращаюсь к своим любимым техно миксам.
И первым будет радиошоу, которое сейчас стремительно набирает обороты повсюду - Deep Space Helsinki.
