Update 04/06/10
And here we go again...
DJ SIDE:
A very neat development has come up, which has made me rather happy. I was contacted by Full Circle Events, and yours truly is now spinning at "Through The Looking Glass" in June, an outdoor dance party being held in Middle Musquodoboit. Last year's event, "Down The Rabbit Hole," was a pretty good event, so I'm definitely excited about it! You can search Facebook for info on the event, and check out the East Coast Groove forum for final location info when it gets posted :)
And with that event comes a bit of a shift in musical interest...namely switching gears to dubstep. Specifically, the darker, dirtier version of dubstep...which goes along with the fact that no matter what music style I choose to spin (EBM, industrial, noise, trance, breakbeat, dubstep, etc), it's gotta be dark, gritty and nasty ^_^
Does this mean I'm not going to spin EBM/industrial anymore? Well...that's a very good question. Do I WANT to continue spinning that genre in Halifax? Most definitely! EBM/industrial is, by far, my favorite genre of music. The aggressiveness, the harshness, the ferocity of the music...it definitely appeals to me...and I'm hoping there's still an audience in the city that would enjoy dancing their collective asses off to some hard beats! If there is, I'd definitely like to know ^_^
RADIO/PODCAST SIDE:
Okies...this is proving to be a rather complicated/frustrating thing. I had announced there would be a podcast series starting up, it was announced here on the blog, but trying to get it all synced up on iTunes has proven to be more than a royal pain where there's no window. However, I believe it had to do with the fact that the podcast file was stored on MediaFire, rather than an actual webserver. Not working regular jobs tends to prevent me from having regular funds to pay for monthly storage. I HAVE, however, found a free web service that offers a nice bit of storage, with a half-decent amount of web traffic per month...HOPEFULLY this will be what I'm looking for. If anyone has any suggestions regarding this, feel free to let me know @_@
As for the radio shows...I've talked to a couple DJs on Wolf Radio, and they're agreeable to the idea of me pre-recording my shows, uploading them to one of the DJs playing near my normal slot, and playing them. I would still be able to interact with my listeners in the chatroom, but I couldn't take requests on the spur of the moment like I used to. I can, however, have people write me their requests in advance, so I could get them in the mix, along with their names...so it would be ALMOST like it was live. We're going to give that a try relatively soon...so stay tuned ^_^
PERSONAL SIDE:
Necrobilia has been going rather swimmingly, I must say. Being the PR person for the venture is fun, especially when I get to see all the new stuff long before it gets posted online. However, you can read about that on the Necrobilia blog when it gets posted ^_^
As I mentioned in the last blog, I have something that's currently in the works (not related to Necrobilia)...it may have to wait, with the impending DJ gig in June, and Kinetik Festival happening in May. We'll have to see...
I've also done something on the weekend I've been threatening to do for a while...my hair is now all grey...and short. Yes...you read correctly...it's short. It was time for a change...and it's one I admit I'm still getting used to. Not that many have seen the short hair yet...I really haven't been out with people for anyone to see the change. I've been doing little more than sleeping, eating & watching DVDs during the day...when I'm not working temp positions, that is...which I'm doing from Wednesday - Friday this week. But yeah...I've gone back into hermit mode, for the most part. Meaning if anyone wants to drag my sorry butt out of the house and do something, let me know...
That's about it for now...
