"London Bridge" is a song by American singer Fergie, recorded for her debut studio album The Dutchess. The song was written by the singer herself, Sean Garrett, Mike Hartnett and producer Polow da Don. It was released as the lead single from it on July 18, 2006, going straight to US radio stations. "London Bridge" is a hip-hop song, but with a lot of dance music influence. The song features a sample from "Down to The Nightclub" by the American rhythm and blues band Tower of Power. Critics received the singer's debut single with mixed reviews, some criticized the overly sexual overtones, and also compared it to the song "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani, which was released a year earlier. Nevertheless, the song was commercially successful, reaching the top of the charts in a dozen countries, and also topped the US Billboard Hot 100. The single received two platinum certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America for over two million copies sold. The music video was shot in London by Mark Webb.
