Urban Geisha performs @ Nicko's Straniero exibition in Tenderpixel Gallery, London

Just got back from London where I did perfomance in Tenderpixel which is an innovative contemporary art gallery for emerging artists situated just off St Martin's Lane in the heart of Soho. The perfomance with my new project "Jonstun and Urban Geisha" was dedicated to the greatest artist alive NICKO STRANIERO in terms of second part of his exibition under the title of Protoplastic Accumulation.

This installation was creating using white walls of the gallery, and potentially the gallery’s gold ceiling, as blank canvas. Straniero employed recycled objects as stamps and embossing tools. This gradual accumulation of traces, shapes and colors produced by the artist brought into existence a simultaneously organic and geometrical surface that one’s eyes cannot help but become drawn into. The installation work of Nicko Straniero further developed such concepts as creating new visual languages and codes, as well as ‘the fear of the empty space’ (Horror Vacui). The work at Tenderpixel gallery has a visual musicality to it, pregnant with a multitude design and ornamental motifs, not to mention dynamic movement.

Urban Geisha

Born and raised in the Ukraine, Urban Geisha first nurtured her love of music while acting as Event Coordinator, Promoter, MC for underground parties and performances. As she shifted her heart and home across to the north east of England, her attention also shifted further into music and art. While continuing to raise her profile as a DJ, Urban Geisha also ventured into collaborations with fashion, dance, digital art and live theatre. Her open attitude to life gives her the ability to experiment, in both creation and performance, spontaneously uncovering new sounds and novel approaches.

Watch this video Urban Geisha @ Glow Mobile, Baltic Square, UK:

She also has joined the forces of Freestyle Junkies who have been running events for years (mostly in England and Holland) and now launching Art/Music Lable (…) which gives a platform for new electronic music and arts. They have organised several international art events for young talents, interviewed and performed with many people but tried to keep relatively low profile. Being here to express, not impress.

<<< A scintillating week of cutting-edge multimedia performance, gigs and installations >>>

Between 30th April and the 3rd of May London's exciting Shunt Lounge will host a massive exhibition involving Arts Collectives from Brighton, Brussels and London. The event will incoporate a feast of fascinating performance including: live music, puppetry, dance and physical theatre, video and sound installations, photography, slam poetry, scientists, robotics and more. The themes for the show are: metacommunication, real-time improvisation and inter-cultural understanding. The exploration of these themes will be facilitated by the MetaHub.

The MetaHub is a computerised Audio-Visual pool operated by 11 Vj's, Dj's and Hackers through which all audio and visual feeds from the entire exhibition pass; all participant artists may then take any data-stream to use as they please.

The Shunt Lounge is an incredible labyrinth of caves and arches underneath London Bridge station which serves as an artistic playground, a concert venue and a gallery. Influenced by the Interdisciplinary Exhibitions « EMMA » run by Artefakt and Kimera in Brussels between 2003 till 2006, Frederic Monnoye, a brighton-based belgian digital artist, and Guillaume Serve co-ordinated the project by gathering artists from different cultures and disciplines and asking them to perform together within improvised collaboration.

This is a rare chance to have your brain challenged, your senses flooded and your creativity tickled. A kaleidescope of experience awaits you from a week of artistic investigation of startling variety and breadth. 100 international artists plying their trade under one roof will result in both something refreshingly different and intellectually stimulating.
