Интервью с Exposed Vocals

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

Soundstream: We all have different ways to music. Denis “DJ FatCat”, the founding member, was born in Khmelnitsky in the west of Ukraine. While he was at school, he used to attend piano classes. In 2005 he started making first attempts in writing electronic music on a PC. After some time he decided to create a music band.

Yuriy “Spacedreamer” was born in Kramatorsk in the eastern part of Ukraine. His first music experience also started when he started composing own music on a PC. And before he joined Soundstream, he had already had some successful trance releases.

Anna is also originally from Kramatorsk. Nevertheless they never met with Yuriy before he joined the band. Before Soundstream Anna participated in different metal bands as a vocalist. But she is not only a good vocalist, she can also play the piano and guitar.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

Soundstream: This name appeared spontaneously. Denis proposed the first thing which came to mind.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

Soundstream: Yes, since we are indie band, we share our music for free. Sometimes our fans ask us to sell them a CD and we do, but music for us is not a matter of money. We make music just because we love it.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Soundstream: If you wanna gain some success, try to make something unique. Just don’t let any problems stop you and you’ll definitely achieve what you want!

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?

Soundstream: Currently we exist as a studio project and hadn’t performed live yet. But we have such plans and will definitely do it when we get an opportunity.

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

Soundstream: as we answered before, no.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Soundstream: Well, usually we don’t even need to search for the inspiration, it finds us itself :) Sometimes we can try to compose something new for hours and can’t get any satisfying result. Sometimes we get inspiration by listening to some new club tunes. But the best ideas come to our heads spontaneously.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Soundstream: Yes, our band site is http://soundstream.zz.mu. Also we share our music via social networks (VK, Facebook, Twitter) and music sites like SoundClick, ReverbNation, PromoDJ, ShowBiza etc.

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?

Soundstream: Britney Spears – Oops I Did It Again (joke:)

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

Soundstream: We would make a big tour around Ukraine, or even world tour.

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

Soundstream: We use FL Studio as a sequencer and different VST-synthesizers e.g. Nexus, Vanguard, Sytrus, z3ta+ and many others.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

Soundstream: social media is great option. Also we send our music to radio stations and online music magazines, which help us to promote new material. Sometimes we notice our music on unofficial compilations, so pirates sometimes can be useful, haha :)

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

Soundstream: Believe it would be Scooter, since they are our main inspirers.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Soundstream: Well, currently we are working on a new material, which will be featured in our next album. At the moment we don’t know how it will be entitled, but we believe it will be finished by the end of the year. Like the previous one it will contain music of different genres.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

Soundstream: Interesting question… Music has become such an important part of our life, that we can’t even imagine ourselves without it. It’s like being a fish out of water.

Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?

Soundstream: it’s too hard to remember since it was long time ago.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

Soundstream: We don’t.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2015?

Soundstream: more radio airplays, new tunes and new album. We hope they’ll like it!
