Interview for VMM.COM
The talented Dutch DJ and producer Ruben de Ronde can stop this talent from touching the very edge of different styles, from the trancy ‘Forever In Our Hearts’ to the deeper, arousing progressive ‘Grands Boulevards’ and big room tech-track ‘Stoer’.
Since 2005, he’s poured out his sounds straight from his own label, ‘Statement’, as well as working extensively with Armada Music. A slew of remixes have made his name rise amongst the A-class, with his interpretation on works by Cosmic Gate, Way Out West, Push, Aly & Fila, W&W and many more. In 2008, his first solo-production, ‘Republique’, became a Top 20 hit in the Beatport chart and got the ‘Captivating’ stamp by the renowned DJ Mag. Ever since, he’s had no time to look back and faces the future with the release of ‘Noir’, ‘Forever In Our Hearts’ and the most recent single on A State of Trance, ‘Superlative’. The support for his productions include a fan base going by the name of Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Cosmic Gate, Markus Schulz, Judge Jules, Fedde LeGrand and Roger Sanchez alike.

The VMM Asks Ruben De Ronde all about his Year Of Dance 2010.
VMM Q: Can you tell the VMM what moments from 2010 will you never forget?
Ruben de Ronde: I have had several gigs this year that will be printed in my memory! Besides that I have spent a lot of time in the studio this year, the latest release is my team up with Robert Nickson, called ‘Superlative’, it was ace to see that this release ended up on several compilations and in Armin van Buuren’s radio show ‘A State of Trance’.
VMM Q: Djing and clubbing around the globe can you tell the VMM what has been your favourite event or night of 2010?
Ruben de Ronde: It is hard to pin point one particular club night, or festival I have played this year, but Haoman 17 in Tel Aviv, Israel and LEDRoom in Antwerp, Belgium were two great nights.
VMM Q: Can you tell the VMM what are your top 5 tracks from 2010?
Ruben de Ronde:
1 Skytech – Comet, this track is a real gem, it’s crazy how much energy is wrapped in there, I played this one every single gig this year!
2 Armin van Buuren feat. Ana Criado – Down To Love, Armin nailed this track, so much emotion in there!
3 Gofman & Tsukerman – One Way back, made by my Israelian friends, great pumping track with a mint production.
4 Cosmic Gate – London Rain (Ruben de Ronde Remix) I was thrilled when they asked me to remix this track, turned out to be a crowd pleaser!
5 Ruben de Ronde – Forever in Our Hearts (Danny Chen Remix) Danny is a great talent from the US, that I met through mutual friends in the #trancefamily. He managed to give a twist to my song I could only imagined to get.
VMM Q: We would like to know at the VMM what has been your favourite label for 2010?
Ruben de Ronde: Besides Statement! and Armada, I think Silk has delivered a huge amount of big tunes this year!
VMM Q: The VMM would like to know what has been your biggest achievement in 2010?
Ruben de Ronde: Ending up on compilations of John O’Callaghan, Aly & Fila, W&W and ATB with my productions, and three tracks on A State of Trance Radio. It is great to see that artists that I respect chose my productions to be featured.
VMM Q: The VMM would like to ask you who is your favourite newcomer for 2010?
Ruben de Ronde: Danny Chen!
VMM Q: Can you give the VMM your choice of artist of the year for 2010?
Ruben de Ronde: Armin van Buuren and W&W. Armin keeps delivering with his radio show and new album, and W&W are conquering the globe with their productions and gigs.
VMM Q: The VMM would like to know what has been your funniest moment of 2010?
Ruben de Ronde: There have been many funny moments this year! One of the first things that pops out is the time I had to wait 6 hours with Ward (from W&W) at Mexico City Airport. We managed to confuse every single employee of the tax free shop. I can’t go into details to much, but I nearly pee-ed my pants, that’s how funny it was.
VMM Q: 2010 is coming to a close so can you tell the VMM what do you have planned for 2011?
Ruben de Ronde: There are many great (vocal) projects I am working on, plus I am wrapping up remixes for Aly & Fila, Sied van Riel and Sean Tyas.
VMM Q: Can you sum up in five words your 2010 year of Dance?
Ruben de Ronde: Everything is possible, just believe!
Thanks Ruben and best of luck for all your 2011 projects from the VMM
