"Maxim Dorogovtsev comes from Kiev, Ukraine, and uses the artist name Maxi Dead. Most of his productions are quite alternative to mainstream trance music with their hard, industrial timbres, crude tech themes, and unconventional structural developments. In this regard, Colibri represents a more trancy side of Maxi Dead's sound.

Laying a base for the track with a recurring harmonic cycle, Maxi Dead throws in different elements to build up the song gradually. The percussions and bass line strike a speedy rhythm while the shiny pads give the song a feather-light rushing feeling. The central theme presents itself with a light flute-like lead sound, and is modulated later in the track. The A.w.e.r.S remix has a harder sound in general; while the bass ensures a solid drive, the harmonic development gives the themes a special spice characteristic to A.w.e.r.S' sound."
