Being fascinated by hip-hop vibes in his youth, Alexander Shevchenko aka Lotus accidentally got acquainted with drum & bass only in 2003. An introduction included sounds of Kosheen, High Contrast, London Elektricity, mighty LTJ Bukem's "Progression Sessions" series of mixes etc. Discovering new and new horizons in drum & bass, he was trying to embrace majority of sub-genres to form his own vision. First record was bought in 2006; having started collecting music in vinyl format, some time later Alexander received a very good feedback on his tastes from music-related friends. Then he bought a full setup of equipment and started to work out mixing skills.
Appearing on a couple of parties in the middle of 2008 (including "2DEEP" series and one-and-only legendary pure atmospheric open-air "Summertea"), Lotus had been forced to leave Saint-Petersburg for a long time. Being cut off from his carefully selected vinyl collection, Alexander, though, continued to order records to Russia, to boil online in the intriguing world of drum & bass, and he had got a serious feeling to share the music with people on return. Coming back, he started to spend much more time on learning the art of mixing.
Lotus doesn't care about when a tune was released: if it's awesome, it must be played. You can expect cocktail-sets full of not only fresh hot hits, but with some wicked brilliants from the past including golden classics. Lotus's versatile collection includes over 700 liquid funk, soulful, techmospheric, intelligent and classic GLO-atmospheric records from the beginning of 90s till present days.
In 2010-2011, since a very beginning, Lotus was one of the editors and main writers of DNBINFO.RU.
Lotus is ready to share his vision of modern (not only) drumandbass music and spread his positive musical thoughts, feelings and emotions.
