DJ Guerito is one of the most passionate, dedicated up and coming DJ’s in the industry. It’s that raw talent paired with an incredible level of motivation that’s turning heads not only at home in Denver, but globally as well. His weekly podcast, published at djguerito2013.podomatic.com is growing daily, consistently appearing among the top 10 podcasts in Denver and has made its way to listeners in over 60 countries worldwide.
Growing up in a musically inclined family, his father, an accomplished musician, and his mother a successful artist manager, Guerito was raised on music, learning to appreciate all forms and genres. But it was a spontaneous relocation to Washington, D.C. that he developed an infinite passion for dance and house music, which fueled a distant dream to become a DJ. In February 2013, the dream became a reality, and DJ Guerito was born………
It began with a very amateur recording of a practice set, that he submitted to an established Denver DJ, who invited him to make his debut at Blush & Blu After hours. Not long after this first time performance, DJ Guerito made the life changing decision to quit his “day job” and put 100% into building a career as a DJ. Within 3 months He had landed 2 weekly residencies and a monthly residency. Just 2 short months after that, he was presented with an offer to be the featured DJ for all 3 days of PrideFest Denver 2013 at Broadways, where he currently held one of the aforementioned residencies.. His second residency, he took a risk with a very green, first year nightclub just outside the Metro area. Lipstick Discotheque was an enjoyable, yet short lived experience. Due to lack of attendance, and inexperienced ownership/management, the nightclub closed its doors for good after only 6 short months. Guerito’s third residency, a monthly appearance at Leela European Cafe, also provided him the opportunity to try his hand in the booking side of the industry. Being the first gig he acquired, it served many purposes in several areas, but mainly as a hands on, in the field training ground. With a desire to prove to himself that he could build a successful weekly event with an impressive following, DJ Guerito created his Globally recognized podcast and live public recording event, HANDTOSSED HOUSE W/DJ GUERITO, a clever play on words as Mary Jane’s Pizza would host the weekly live show.
Gueritos guest appearances include, The Infinity Center, The Living Room, The Polished Tavern, Vinyl Nightclub, The Compound, Hudson’s Bar & Grill, Cervantes Other Side, The XBar, Tracks Nightclub, The Oriental Theater, Byron White Federal Courthouse to Support Marriage Equality in Colorado, Whittier ECE-8 School, Club Q in Colorado Springs, and in June 2014 he was invited to perform at PrideFest Denver, on the Smirnoff World Dance Stage, one of two main stages at this epic event, which hosted over 350,000 people from all over the world. His next goal would certainly test the longevity and strength of his dedication, as he endured an 8 month negotiation process with the Ameristar Resort and Casino in 2016. Literally as a result of shameless, relentless persistence DJ Guerito solidified a contract including two consecutive performances over two weekends at the infamous Ameristar. Bar 8042 inside the casino was so packed that people literally couldn’t do much more than remain stationary and try not to bump or rub against the strangers around them. Guerito killed it at this event, so much so that the crowd, very late in the event after many had retreated to their rooms etc., took it upon themselves to rearrange the furniture to create a much needed dance space. He extended his contracted performance time in an effort to subdue the unruly guests that refused to let the night come to a close, well that and he was loving every minute of this connection with his audience. In May 2016 DJ Guerito received an invitation to perform for REDwave Euro Events at one of the most elite Social Nightclubs in the Denver area at that time, Prive of Dorchester, for a fashion show and live photo shoot. A very spontaneous, impromptu engagement, it was a little rough around the edges, but an epic good time. In his young, albeit far beyond his expectations of personal success, Guerito has even shared the stage with a few of the industries finest, including DJ Shane Stiel (Haus of Stiel), Chicago’s own Global Sensation DJ Cindel, as well as DJ Tatiana and International Superstar DJ Xstasys, both of Puerto Rico. Although his invitation to perform at Mile High Party Weekend the Official Main Event for PrideFest Denver, 2017 is by far his most epic event. He was indescribably honored to learn that he would perform direct support in the VIP Lounge to two of his industry idols, Grammy Nominated U.S. DJ Team DJs Rosabel, a partnership consisting of two amazing, iconic DJs, Ralphi Rosario and Abel Aguilera. To actually perform the same event with artists of this caliber, who’s original tracks and remixes he had played in his own sets for years, was nothing short of surreal. Starstruck is an understatement when describing Guerito’s reaction to learning that this event line up would also include one of his absolute favorite all time Dance Music Divas, Kristine W!!! Not to mention Miss Mÿa, The Sex Shooters and DJ Jesus Menendez of Mexico. The event raised much needed funds for the One Colorado Foundation in Denver Working Together for a Fair and Just Colorado. DJ Guerito is always open to donate services to any cause that will benefit children of any age.
Gaining notoriety and building a following is certainly a difficult task, especially in a field so widely popular, but DJ Guerito continues to attract fans through his music. Becoming known for his energetic and passionate performances, and including a broad spectrum of music, crowds’ love his style, mixing the classic dance hits of the nineties while keeping up with the trending top 40 remixes of today. House is Guerito’s primary genre, more specifically, progressive and tribal house. His skill and passion are best displayed performing these genres, however his versatility allows him to accommodate just about any request. He is currently ranked #14 in the EDM category on ReverbNation (www.reverbnation.com/djguerito) and quickly rising. He also continues to advance with his global podcast published weekly on podomatic.com. Host to over 2,000,000 podcasts, Guerito has reached an overall standing of #831, climaxed in the progressive house category at #14 (placing him above industry legends such as Manny Lehman, Jose Spinnin Cortez, and Phil B of San Francisco and at one point ranking just one slot below the Godfather of House, the late Mr. Frankie Knuckles), and has left his musical mark in over 60 Countries Worldwide. In February of 2016 Guerito’s Demo mix for Number 1 Music (P2P promotion website) was ranked #3 on the U.S. Charts, and has continuously stayed in the top 10 ranks for Colorado and the United States charts for nearly a year now. In 2018 he was officially recognized as a National level artist when he was invited to Salt Lake City, Utah for an exclusive 3 month guest residency at the SunTrapp, Utah’s premier gay nightclub, named the the number 1 dance club in the state.
Taking action within the community has become a major passion for DJ Guerito. In April, 2014, Guerito accepted an invitation to perform for the Support Marriage Equality in Colorado Rally, donating a portion of his fee to support the cause. Expanding his support, Guerito also taught DJ skills as a volunteer with Denver Public Schools DC-21, a Multiple Pathways Center, focused on empowering students with “at-risk” backgrounds. He also donates a portion of his services to the Walk for Whittier Fundraiser, a benefit for Whittier ECE-8 School, each year. 2014 also marked a new addition to his charity work as he donated a portion of his performance fee to the Epworth Foundation for their annual family celebration. Burning Through Pages, a foundation that promotes reading as an alternative to street-life and criminal conduct for teenagers, was an easy addition to his fundraising annual, and personally raised $500.00 from from his own personal donors to contribute to the foundation. He also raised a substantial amount for the Children’s Hospital, where he was the headliner for their 2014 inaugural event 99 Red Balloons for Kids. And in 2015 and 2016 he was sincerely honored to have been asked to play for a very special charity, Adaptive Adventures, a foundation that offers Wounded Warriors and children who have been paralyzed or had to endure an amputation, an opportunity to go dancing and participate in sports. 2016 was also DJ Gueritos third consecutive appearance at the Denver PrideFest staple event, Corky’s Pride Pool Party, to benefit the Corky Cares Foundation which funded numerous local charities. And in 2016 Guerito also donated a portion of his performance fee to the Muscular Sclerosis Society Fundraiser in Denver, where he was the exclusive DJ for the entire event. Being their inaugural year, Guerito assisted in much of the production and marketing of the event and was also able to raise money and merchandise for auctioning from his personal donors. His motto, “Live in the Music” is exactly what Guerito does. “Music is my life, it’s been there to carry me through the hard times and helped me shine through the good. I make people smile, laugh and dance by doing what I love, not many people in the world will ever experience how amazing that feeling is.”
