AZR Self-Interview

AZR Article

One year ago, new rising talent Jean-Pierre Azar (more known as AZR) has climbed the charts. Starting in September 2016 with a few following on social medias to a great number that can reach up to 20,000 plays on PROMODJ, where he publishes most of his material (mostly edits). They  get a great amount of support in countries such as Great Britain, Australia, China, United-States, Mexico and many more… With all of this already accumulated, you will read a self-made interview about what’s going to happen over the next year.

Q: How can you define so far, your year?

JP: First of all, let me say that this what an absolutely amazing year. I have started before 2 other projects who weren’t real and serious. I knew with this project that I would succeed but I didn’t really knew the amount of support I would get with them. I started out in high school as a simple opener for teenager parties and now, I’m on my way to build my own brand. This is amazing!

Q: What do you use for producing and DJing?

JP: For everything I produce, I use Logic, it’s a useful tool since I have used in the past another similar program called Garage band that I used for a very long time (about 3-4 years). This is where I started to try making tracks and remixes, of course, they weren’t perfect and I still have to learn some stuffs. Most of them, have been by trial and mistake and self-learning but I still watch tutorials. I used before a DJ Turntable called DJ Console MK4 and before, I used DJ Hero that you could play on the Wii but it’s been a long time since I haven’t touched the turntable. I wish I had the Pioneer material but I can't afford it right now.

Q: What can you reserve for us this year? What is the game plan?

JP: Wow! I have so many ideas of tracks and remixes. I’m losing count on how much I have produced so far.  I have about 30-40 IDs and collaborations and add with it 15-40 remixes for big names like David Guetta, Galantis, Nicky Romero, Hardwell, Avicii and many more… I have the basic ideas in less than one hour. It can start with a melody, some lyrics that I write down or even some melodies that I’m humming. The more I keep myself busy, the more I get ideas every day.

Q: Which festivals would you like to play?

JP: I would love to play Ultra Music Festival in Miami, EDC in Las Vegas, Tomorrowland in Belgium, Île Soniq in my hometown Montreal, Villa Paradizo in Montreal and there’s so much more that I want to do but those are the main ones that I’m projecting to do.

Q: How have you been attracted to EDM?

JP: I have always been attracted to EDM since the age of 12 years old. I didn’t started to think about a career in this direction seriously until much later. I’m talking like maybe 15-16 years old. I was always the “studying” guy at school. Actually, finishing high school and finishing a diploma to help me get a job is without a doubt, the best way to go. I wish I had more time but hey, it will pass anyways.

Q: Any advice you wanna give?

JP: Keep working fucking hard! There’s nothing easy in this world and there’s nothing that is given. Always give your 100 % and keep your head high. Do what’s right for you and what makes you happy, not what other people tell you to do.

Q: A few fun questions.

Favorite food? French Fries

Favorite Color? Green

Favorite Artist? I have so many... that will have to be David Guetta.

Favorite place to go? Probably Las Vegas.

Favorite movie? Daddys Home 2 of Will Ferrell and the latest one of James Bond.

Favorite TV Show? Shark Tank,

This interview will be made available as a video introduction on Youtube as soon as possible.

Have a fantastic day,

Jean-Pierre Azar (a.k.a AZR)

What's happening next week?

What will happen next week?

A few days ago, I wrote down that there will be more material to be released on my other socials such as SoundCloud and Youtube. Well, that will happen because I have two upcoming remixes for Ghastly and Matthew Koma and for SNBRN and Andrew Watt. The Beat The Sunrise remix has been on my computer for the past 5 months and it’s almost time to release it. For the other song We Might Fall, this song has been part of a remix contest for one of the biggest EDM festivals in Montreal called Île Soniq. I will combine in this remix trap/dubstep and hardstyle to make a change while the other remix will contain my original, big-room, electro-house sound. I still have to work on those elements and make adjustments but it will be totally worth the time. Meanwhile, you can still follow me on social medias. P.S: All the latest mashups that I have made over the past year will be uploaded soon on Youtube so that you can listen to them again.

AZR Personal Mashups

Hey everyone,

My name is Jean-Pierre Azar (or more known as AZR). You might have known me for my latest mashups that I have posted since September 2016. It has been an amazing run since that moment! I have posted 185 mashups and from every style. From big-room house to dubstep, trap and hip-hop, I tried my best to diversify those styles so that they could fit on my sets. So far, with all of those edits published, I have over 23 736 plays, 5376 downloads, 38 comments and 3 bookmarks. My stuffs have been listened all around the globe with countries such as United-States, Brasil, Argentina, France, United-Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Israel, China, Japan and Taiwan. The fact that I get all the support around the globe encouraged me to continue producing music :). From now on, I will post my content on Spotify, SoundCloud and Youtube. Of course, all the material I posted will also be available on Youtube and upcoming releases. A lot of new music will be coming over the next few months and I can't wait to show you what I got in store! By the way, thanks for allowing me to get into the top 50 of PROMODJ!

Until then, rave safe and I salute you!

Jean-Pierre Azar
