Here is another free release from Absys Records; this time it’s a compilation entitled “Deep East” consisting of two EPs that seem to be quite different from each other, but in fact they have much in common as far as the general mood is concerned. The central motif of “Deep East” is atmospheric d’n’b in its various shapes and forms – be it minimalistic, as it is in the case of the 1st EP or more classic which can be heard on EP number two. What’s more, it’s not only about the music – with “Deep East” we want to present to you the creative output of some already known or fresh and upcoming artists from the countries beyond the Buh River. This way you can get familiar with microfunk as seen by the likes of Diswork from Petersburg, responsible for the deep and hypnotic “Pollus”, Kiev’s Physical Illusion – the author of melancholic “1945” or D.Intelligent from Samara – the co-producer of jazz-flavoured “Something About Us”. The listeners would also be able to experience a solid dose of modern drum & bass from Ultracode who – as part of this particular project – reveals his double nature as a producer; his “All that between” – pared-down, minimalistic and filled with electronic sounds is very different from the track that closes “Deep East” – “1234567” which is the effect of collaboration with Nuage and bears traits of the sounds popular in the early years of Good Looking. The second EP opens up with “Blind Desire” by KaLGaN from Moscow – a track that sounds like 100% classic atmospheric d’n’b, thus reminding of something familiar, yet remains truly fresh and original. The view on beautiful, tranquil and warm soundscapes continue with the works of Petersburg’s Parhelia – the author of the melodious, upbeat and slightly fable-like “When She Sleeps” and Moscow’s Tony Leparty and his deep, melancholic “White Winter” remixed by Urban Trip. “Deep East” is a crisp breeze from the East, carrying loads of zest and positive energy in the shape of musical works by the generation of talented producers who will make you want keep an eye on them in the future. All of this, delivered to you by Absys.
