As an engineer I've always wanted to manipulate semi-random data, put local chaos to order by my very hand rather than create solid and strictly-organized musical entities. I would always give 'sound algorithm' a chance to live and evolve by itself. I've always preferred this approach over putting bricks together in order to dig into what's hidden behind the mosaic. The track started as a study for granulator II max4live device by Robert Henke and his 'fragile territories' audiovisual installation. What I have seen did somehow plant seeds of sound design and structure in my head. Latter practice led to the actual understanding of track's concept together with sampling, looping and listening. Basically, Granulator II device is used here as a sampler for 80 bpm-oriented 'grains' of fundamental frequency of 5.33 Hz (or 1/16th note). Track consists of 6 layers: BD, SD, HH, Tone, BSS and AMB. All of the layers (but AMB) are 'grain-size' and 'spray' — automated in the ranges of 1.33Hz – 10.67Hz and 93.8 ms – 1500 ms. Enjoy.
