I was born 12.04.1986, in Gagra to a musical family in a time of great social upheaval in my country. My parents worked as musicians in local venues but because of the economic and political conflicts raging, my family moved to Moscow. Our lifestyle in the capitol city didn't allow me to develop and grow in ways my mother would prefer so when I was 6 my mom made a decision to move back to the Urals to provincial Nizhny Tagil. I went to study music when I was 7. I was fortunate to be tutored by the wonderful Sizova Margarita P. who was deeply interested and encouraged my creative experiments. Working with her formed the foundation of my relation with music. Later I went to a secondary school, and was immersed in English language instruction. This school brought me a chance to participate in a cultural exchange program "Hands across the water" in 1999 and I traveled to the USA to study in an American secondary school for about a month. I lived with a generous American host-family and this trip gave me new insights into the American Psyche of my new friends and surprised me with their romantic and idealistic soul. One of the most memorable events occurred at a concert of classical music in Marlton, That lovely evening, NJ, in its generosity, rewarded me with a wave of positive audience response. As I remember, I played Bach, who to me, of all the great composers, is the closest to our contemporary musical sensibility. When I returned home I attended many piano festivals in Nizhny Tagil and all around Sverdlovsk region. One of the most important for me was a regional contest in Yekaterinburg, where I was lucky to be award a silver medal for a Mozart piano piece, backed by symphonic orchestra. My early positive responses affected my family’s wish that should go to a conservatory and continue my classical education, but my own caution of progressing along the narrow path of mastering my performing skills changed my mind. Although I finished my music school with excellence I didn’t continue to a conservatory. At that time I'd already been developing solid interest to new, unusual music with energy and power: progressive house, progressive trance, and electronica. My brother in law influenced me with his taste and understanding for this genre. These styles are still precious and exotic things but for me, the true state of sonic trance is achieved by sometimes monotonous, but necessarily delicate and colorful music. Electro tried to attract my view at some moments but predictability and rudeness in some of its aspects is always going to lose in comparison with philosophical depth and unique textures of colorful sounds. I'd like to note that I don't drop sharp borders between the styles and express my personal emotions about them. Moreover there're worth-living masterpieces, which deeply touch my heart in all possible styles. So, I mainly concentrated on gracious, vivid electronic works with straight drum beat turning into breaks at some moments, but what is most important with memorizing and perfect theme. I define-understand “theme” as something that comes to your mind every time you recall the track. During High School I started to wonder how magic things happen in reality. I was soon introduced to Cubase SX 3, PCI sound card Audigy 2ZS, Pentium 4 computer, midi-keyboard M-Audio 49e, Armed with only curiosity I attacked The 800 pages of the Cubase SX 3 manual. Curiosity soon changed to subconscious absorption of some technical theory and I began to take it into consideration every time I pushed a key. You go in there, change it and feel your control over the sound, which is the most important. This way you train your skill and ears. When I went to the University I continued to spread most of my attention to music production knowledge. Listening, analyzing, trying to find that quality in it recognized by professional or commercial appeal. I came to the following conclusions: 1. Music is a reflection of a person's overview, that's why there can't be good or bad music. There's the one, which reflects your inner world. 2. There always should be a culture of its consumption. If anyone wishes to feel what the author tried to express in it, it will never work if you listen to it as a background. 3. Music in its beauty as it's created sounds right with quality acoustics. If you don't hear it right you never know what you truly like. 4. There's one interesting fact. Young people in Russia prefer aggressive music, because we're much more like this in mind. Hard style music coincides with the state of not being at ease - "on izmen", constant challenge with the outer world and undertaking. That's why hard style music is closer to my spirit. 5. Masses' understanding of music is always different from that of music lovers', because every music lover spends much more time with it and that's why he's much more experienced and selective. That's why pop-culture reflects popular trends in music but individual preferences are the only truth in every moment of music lover's progress in it. That's why reflecting your overview is the only way to self-perception as sense and truth and not just a trend. Every creator is to think whether inspiration comes from one-time influence or he's about to rich the natural side of the phenomenon at this moment of life already. The University also brought me a chance to work in NY for 8 months and I took a moment to find more about music production. Being acquainted with Logic Studio I couldn't stay indifferent to it any longer and I chose this platform as the most reliable and functional for my projects. During the time I studied in the University and after my graduation my hard-spirited analog friend synthesizer Moog stood by me. I believe sound is time-breaking as well as my ideas. The progress on my path to find truth in sound can take much longer than a life-time, because the sound (if we put physics aside) - is always born inside of us which is a quality of soul! Wish you all the best in the music journey... 12 Sounds
